Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced VP of Enterprise Technology for our IT group. This can be a remote position.

The Enterprise Technology leader will work closely with the senior leaders of the Corporate Functions (e.g., Finance, HR, Commercial, Procurement etc.), related Product Owners and the Digital Transformation office in the creation and development of business strategies, product and technology roadmaps supporting these strategies. Additionally, this leader will be accountable for translating, aligning and managing the business strategies and roadmaps to the IT budget and vendor and procurement strategy. The leader will build and lead a high performing team of professionals that together will have responsibility for agile portfolio management including budgeting, planning, prioritization, vendor strategy, and intended impact of the enterprise technology portfolio and overall planning and management of the Global IT budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the leadership of Corporate functions and related Product Owners to develop, communicate, and execute strategies, technology and product-based roadmaps that support strategic business goals.
  • Surface and influence the adoption of new technologies that improve engagement, productivity, decision making, quality, security, and overall simplification of the environment.
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and champion opportunities to converge existing solutions to a standard for the benefit of all businesses.
  • Work with relevant leadership and Product Owners to ensure that portfolio intake processes are in place to make timely value-based investment decisions and reprioritize demand as business conditions change.
  • Create and lead a high performing team that partners with executive leadership to define and allocate budgets, define target strategic outcomes and align priority initiatives to those outcomes across the Enterprise technology portfolio; ensuring that we have the right mix of skills and experiences to successfully manage the evolving needs of the portfolio.
  • Create and lead a high performing team that forecasts, plans and manages the IT budget in accordance with the strategic portfolio plan.
  • Create and lead a high performing team that sets and executes the vendor management strategy that aligns with the strategic portfolio plan.
  • Partner closely with Digital Transformation office to ensure alignment on enterprise portfolio and enterprise digital programs
  • Embody and model agile leadership providing a clear articulation of objectives, direction and expectations
  • Ensure and support alignment to agile transformation initiatives reinforcing that development programs and individual development plans are available for all colleagues.
  • Ensure that agile-based portfolio metrics are in place to monitor the realization of value and overall efficiency and effectiveness at the portfolio level.
  • Ensure that key stakeholders are effectively communicated to regarding key portfolio level initiatives and priorities
  • Work with the Business Development team to ensure that M&A and Partnership activities are appropriately planned for and successfully executed.
  • Work with enterprise architecture, data, infrastructure, and security and compliance organizations to ensure they are appropriately incorporated into the portfolio planning and enterprise agile standards and processes.
  • Proactively work with other business and technology groups to improve process and procedures and to ensure that the appropriate levels of controls are in place.

Job Qualifications

The following are minimum requirements related to the VP of Enterprise Technology position:

  • Education:
    Bachelor s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in computer science, engineering, business administration or related field. MS, MBA or other relevant graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    15
    years related experience, preferably in life sciences, biopharma or related industry
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Prior Experience Preferred:

  • Technical and business support of enterprise functions, e.g., Finance, HR, Commercial, etc.
  • Demonstrated success driving the development, implementation, support, and upgrading of large enterprise platforms. E.g., SAP, Salesforce, SuccessFactors, and ServiceNow experience a plus.
  • Experience with Portfolio level Agile methodologies
  • Demonstrated success leading in a complex matrix environment with direct and indirect resources geographically distributed across the globe.
  • Experience managing a 100m
    IT budget and corresponding vendor strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong teams; recruit top talent and develop colleagues of all levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships, influence outcomes, and to deliver effective presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact comfortably with all levels of management and actively participate on senior leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing the concurrent delivery of multiple programs across multiple functions and business groups.
  • Experience in identifying and applying innovative ideas to business problems and shepherding them through the development stage to implementation and successful adoption.
  • An understanding of the biopharma R&D environment.
  • Strong business acumen with understanding of finance, budgeting, forecasting, and business management.
  • Experience in managing and influencing vendors and consultants.
