Sensors and Fluid Management Systems Business Unit
Our Sensors and Fluid Management Systems Business Unit has designed and manufactured aircraft sensors for over 60 years, starting with the first U.S. aircraft engine applications and serves both the military and commercial markets. We offer custom design and engineering services and high quality manufacturing standards to measure many aircraft operating parameters including temperature, speed, pressure, flow, and level. Our product portfolio consists of high temperature thermocouples, speed sensors, fuel gauging systems, fuel level and temperature sensors, lube oil level and temperature sensors, hydraulic level and temperature sensors, waste water level sensors, fuel flowmeters and flow switches, pressure sensors, accelerometers, angle of attack and other air data system sensors and cables and harnesses.
Position
Summary:
AMETEK Sensors and Fluid Management Systems Business Unit is seeking a highly strategic North American OEM Sales Director with a proven track record of success in the aerospace industry to join us in Wilmington, MA. This individual will join a global, multi-site business unit and be expected to drive high-level strategy plus tactical execution. The business unit designs and manufactures highly engineered sensors and fluid management systems for aerospace applications. The sales organization consists of regional sales managers and representatives. The ideal candidate for this position will have sales management experience in both OEM and defense aerospace markets specific to sensors technology. This individual will partner with the Vice President of Sales, the Aftermarket Sales Director and the SFMS Management Team to drive strategic organic growth initiatives for the business. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
Develop the OEM sales and marketing portion of the strategic plans, focused on growth and new product activities
Design strategies to win new business and execute the tactics working with direct reports and peers
Drive daily sales management via SalesForce.com
Develop strategic customer accounts and cultivate new business opportunities
Work with customers and engineering to develop the Product Roadmap for new products and adjacent market opportunities
Execute tactical functions: prepare multi-year quote proposals, manage sales/engineering/customer interface, establish pricing, perform negotiations, manage customers, perform marketing analysis, deliver product training
Manage relations with outside reps and intercompany AMETEK sales team
Communicate BU goals, objectives and feedback to Divisional Key Accounts
Ensure that Sales Channel supports new product development goals of engineering & the growth objectives of the business
Establish and maintain key customer relations and ties to new development programs
Support financial reporting including forecasting, budgets, and quarterly reporting requirements
Manage expense budget
Directly manage and mentor the sales team to achieve budgeted objectives
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required
MBA is a plus
Position Requirements
Experience
10-15 years' experience leading tactical and strategic sales initiatives in an aerospace manufacturing environment required. Experience working with both commercial OEM and military sales is strongly preferred
Knowledge and understanding of aerospace sensor applications and/or aircraft systems is a plus
Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience a plus
Qualifications:
Previous direct management of sales team preferred
Highly collaborative individual with outstanding communication and networking skills
Proven team player who has demonstrated capabilities in the following areas: presentation, writing, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Well developed problem-solving skills; solid organizational skills; and the demonstrated ability to be self-directed and effectively relate to all levels of an organization
Looking for a hands-on individual with the ability to see the big picture
Ability to work well under pressure, multi task and meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to manage staff, set goals and objectives to meet Business Unit goals, as well as the proven ability to mentor subordinates
The right person will be ambitious and flexible who wants to learn and grow professionally
Computer skills to include Salesforce, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
