The Organization
The Energy Management Products (EMP) team is part of ADIs global Energy team and is charged with growing ADI's dominant position as a supplier to manufactures of electrical meters and transmission and distribution secondary equipment. The EMP team is focused on addressing the needs of the Smart Grid roll-out globally.
The Position
A vacancy exists for a Senior System Applications Engineer within the Energy Management Products group to focus on transmission and distribution products.
The primary responsibility of this position is to drive growth and profitability through building key customer relationships, and defining differentiated products.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Understand energy systems and associated equipment in transmission and distribution applications. This can include protective relays, distribution automation, power line monitoring, etc. The person filling this role is expected to have a high level of influence on innovative technology and product developments for the EMP group.
Develop relationships with architects/chief engineers at our customers to both understand and influence their thinking.
Lead definition, build system prototypes and/or technology demonstrators to explore new technology or architecture ideas. Create system models demonstrating how the Analog Devices product functions in the system.
Collaborate with Marketing Group and the rest of System Applications Group to engage with customers in order to understand, define and document customer system requirements.
Influence/Lead new product definitions.
Approximately 20%-25% travel to worldwide customers and other ADI sites.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree or higher in electrical, electronic, or a related field.
Working knowledge and practical experience with technologies used in the transmission and distribution systems, including sensors, signal conditioning, signal processing, power management, data communications, control theory, etc. Preferably capable of developing and simulating system models.
System product development experience, preferably as a system architect of equipment for protection, control, or monitoring of energy systems.
Experience meeting relevant qualifications/approvals/ standards.
Ability to interact effectively with customers.
Understanding of system and product costs and options (e.g. component costs, packaging options).
Ability to develop, document, rationalize and present system requirements to a diverse audience of engineers.
Ability to work simultaneously on many projects and set priorities.
Team player, fluent in English, very good oral and written communications skills.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
